My kid (like me!) was an impulse liar at age 8ish. I used the "I will check" response method. Have you brushed your teeth? "I will check" and me asking do you need me to help does not require an automatic fib, it is a way of getting her back to the bathroom to do the job.

I wasn't quite like this as a kid, but I did have a lot more of a fiery side as a youngster that's just begun coming out. Injustice doesn't live in my world, so I'm working to make it pack up and leave this world.

Shoes flying through windows Smashing of pot plants for delight Screaming on the floor of the wine shop demanding unusually shaped desirable bottle Lights turned on & off Doors slamming Fascination with gutters, water, fire & broken glass People stare at Parent with no control

And if you have ADHD take a moment and rest and then think about how helpful and what a source of understanding you will be for your kid. There were certain things that I was entirely ready to let go for my kids because I knew they were coming.

When their handwriting was all over the page in 3rd grade I had my old and current notes, turns out my eldest is one of the most coherent note takers I have ever seen.

Should have heard my daughter try to negotiate her way into buying an overpriced game tonight. ๐Ÿ˜„ she underestimates how similar and stubborn her mother is.
